From the almost exotic combination of North America, Africa and...erm..King's Heath, this Midlands hard rock band hasn't had the healthiest of starts since their 2001 inception, with illness striking them all down at one time or another. But they're back and sounding pretty perky on this three track offering. "Can't Speak To Him" crunches in all the right places a la Queens of the Stone Age (one of their stated influences along with Faith No More and Stone Temple Pilots), and on the remaining tracks "The Lie" and "Rex", the songwriting and performance are of a high standard. Bit disappointed that George's drums sound a bit tinny, but at least they're not programmed. I'd like to hear more from Aleutian Low, especially live, where I'd imagine they'd make a fearsome racket!
