A three-piece band with an unpronounceable name (it's pronounced Iris apparently), this EP features four songs which highlight the different talents of a new band. Been playing this on my Independents' Day radio show and so I've already fallen in love with its various charms. You get the powerful energetic "Down Here And Waiting" which is as immediate as it is energetic! It gives Alan modern rock impacts from the first strains of feedback, "Meet Your Maker" is an acoustic journey and this time it's singer Andy Dorrat's distinctive vocals that leap out of the speakers. Pure poetry and power! "Up And Dreaming" is an understated piece of searing searching rock which sees power chords and riffs counterbalanced by Dorrat's voice. Live, I imagine this is a scorcher! For "Whatever Man", the guys experiment with some technology using loops to underpin an acoustic approach. Overall, with songs that are full of searching and hope, this is an excellent introduction to a new band who have the talent to be significant.
