Those who enjoy Take 6 had better note the name of this sextet from Bloomington. Illinois. Lush harmonies one minute, slammin' dance beats the next, with some solid Scripture in the lyrics and. joy of joys. acappella! I'm not quite so sure about a swingbeat version of "Blessed Assurance" but "O How I Love Jesus" gets an elaborate acappella arrangement which is more convincing. One thing that I can't relate to is a cold deejay intro to "U Can Endure", with the jock sounding like a cross between Emperor Rosko and The Wolfman from American Graffiti. I guess it must be hip but I prefer to listen to the music! Technically it's good, the guys can sing and the album's a good value package at nearly 55 minutes. Agape aren't quite up there yet with Commissioned or The Winans (or even The Wades); nevertheless, a good album that's worth investigating.
