Now here's an intriguing privately produced cassette that goes further than many of its type in transcending the limitations of tiny budget by the sheer sweep of its vision. A concept album, no less, it is a work demanding attention. It begins with a prelude - a band member reading from Genesis 1 with sound effects then a haunting vocal which loses some impact through a dull mix which leaves the drums sounding particularly anaemic. But soon we're on to more interesting sounds, the ballad title track with a nice blend of acoustic guitars and keyboards and another fine, swoopingly expressive vocal from Ian Stott. In fact Mr Stott's rich, resonant voice carries the occasional instrumental weak spots throughout while the lyrics, a dazzling journey through Scripture, hit to the heart as they lead the listener to a climactic encounter with the Lord of Lords. Watch out for this Midlands band. They clearly have a significant ministry.
