The Redeemed Christian Church Of God is one of the fastest growing church movements in the UK. Founded in Nigeria in 1952, it has been spreading quickly across these isles in recent years. Adeola Olanike Olisawo has been a deaconess with the RCCG since 2003, and this is her debut three song recording. It is a fascinating fusion of styles, containing elements both of the gospel music common in British black majority churches, but also a strong African component, complete with talking drum and the occasional Caribbean touch, for good measure! In line with the music the lyrical content is upbeat, worshipful ("Glory To Glory"), encouraging ("Woman Reign") and testifying ("Praise Time"). The recording, with its reliance on sequencing, shows signs of a limited budget, but if Adeola had access to a more expansive production you get the feeling she would grow wings and fly. As it is, this is a promising debut. It's easy to imagine people dancing in praise when Adeola leads worship and one hopes and prays her ministry will flourish.
