Where did this come from? Completely under the radar the McClurg Family Singers re-emerge with a new name and a distinctive collection of songs that require and reward repeated listening. At the forefront of this American band's sound is Anthony Hoisington and a voice that not only seems perfectly at ease with the tone and pace of the songs on offer but is the perfect platform for the music to blend around. 'Over Tired And Ill Prepared' is effortlessly easy to sit and enjoy, paced perfectly between the impactive sound of "Headache", "America" and the wonderful "Hard To Find" and the quieter, slower rhythms of "Hymn", "Straight Jackets" and title track. At times evocative of the practised stride of the Lemonheads or REM this is an excellent CD to spend some time with and begs you to listen in again and gently chip away at the message subtly given.
