Your favourite mag has already praised Aaron as the possessor of one of the greatest voices in pop and R&B - an astonishing instrument able to transfer any melody into an intricate creation of grace notes and curls - but too often his recordings resemble a maestro resting on his laurels. Like his previous gospel album, 2002's 'Devotion', this has some nice moments, he does great things with the old Sam Cooke classic "A Change Is Gonna Come" while his version of Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody" is fun. But too often here the lazy choice of songs gives the project a karaoke feel and there's only so much you can do with numbers like "If I Had A Hammer" and "Ave Maria". Tight production from Muscle Shoals maestro Barry Beckitt but all in all, an average album.
