This 2018 release is the fourth from the Los Angeles-based artist who blends gospel, R&B and hip-hop into his music, with production duties being shared by Shawn Hibbler, Jason Shepherd and Floyd Wilcox. Lyrically, the artist seeks to encourage the listener to a closer walk with God, particularly on a powerful song like "Upper Room Experience". What distinguishes this collection from other hip-hop-tinged, R&B gospel releases is the honest lyrics. "Grievous Words" encourages the listener to watch their words, reminding them that "quietness is your strength." For me "Focus (ftg Tamare Lloyd and Exdoxodos)" is the strongest track here, an exhortation for this generation to focus on God instead of chasing social media likes, notifications and selfies. Powerful lyrics indeed! Musically, one couldn't claim that 'Press On' breaks any new territory but the lyrics here have the potential to speak to many.
