Reviewed by Steve Best Gordon Bennett! To say that this CD is loud is like saying that Attila The Hun was fond of the odd punch up! 3rd Root describe their music as a combination of Rage Against The Machine and Korn, and who am I to argue with that? Citing their influences as Metallica, Depeche Mode, Korn and P.O.D., I think I can safely leave you to draw your own conclusions as to the sound you are greeted with when putting this CD on. This is loud, raw, uncompromising, and -happily, sanctified. Apparently these guys play regularly in church, although what the average churchgoer would make of them on this showing I couldn't possibly imagine. The tone for the album is set with the fearsome racket that is "Wah Wah". "Wicked" starts with a quotation from Proverbs before getting unfeasibly loud, whilst "Sangre" is sung - or perhaps I should say, screamed, in Spanish. Fans of the genre will love this, as it is superbly played and produced. I have to take my hat off to these guys for a job well done. Check this out, by all means, but be prepared to have your ears melted!
