Anyone familiar with the gospel scene will be well aware of the stamp the Winans family have made on the scene and the impact they have had. Three of the family members who are all brothers - Carvin, Marvin and BeBe - have now created a new incarnation. Continuing in the vein of their past success this new album sticks to the winning Winans' formula with rich silky vocals, smooth R&B grooves, funky bass lines, tight horns and soulful harmonies. The brothers give a top-notch performance, their voices interplaying and blending beautifully. Production by Rodney Jerkins and Daniel Weatherspoon is slick and allows the vocals to take centre-stage. "If God Is For Us" is a powerful soul ballad, each brother contributing solo vocals and reaching a rousing climax with a gospel choir breaking in at the end. "Move In Me" is a funky upbeat song where Marvin backed by a stirring horn section sings of the work of the Holy Spirit. "I'm Not Ashamed" is another energetic jam and a bold declaration of faith with Marvin even sampling a bit of the Stevie Wonder gem "Higher Ground". "I Really Miss You" is typical of the slower offerings, an emotional song of tribute to their late brother Ron who died in 2005. An impressive addition to the Winans' catalogue.
