This is the second release of worship songs from a duo from Minnesota, USA consisting of husband and wife Kevin and Kimberley Gullickson who between them play all the instruments, and, with the help of their daughter, also provide the vocals. The album is described as a "collection of contemporary praise and worship songs for today with influences ranging from Hillsongs to Third Day." However, after repeated listens it was a struggle to find any hint of a Third Day rocky sound or edgy vocals or the contemporary and passionate Hillsongs sound. Kevin Gullickson has been in and around the music industry for 25 years and unfortunately much of the music on 'The Path' sounds decidedly dated as though it hasn't moved on with time. Songs like "Jesus Is Here Today" sounds trapped in the early '90s, elsewhere there is a heavy reliance on synths playing brass parts, such as on the "radio recommended" "Today Is The Day". This is obviously a well intentioned album. But in truth, it's lyrically and musically clichéd.
