Although taking time out and being in a quiet place is perhaps a bit of an odd ball in a group of teachings on creative prayer, but I’ve snuck it in anyway because I think it’s important. Perhaps being quiet and taking time to get away to be with God is creative compared to the rat race most of us live!
Jesus was the prime example of someone who found a quiet place and took time out to pray and if the Son of God needed to do it I’m sure we all do too. There are many times in scripture where it talks about Jesus rising early to pray, going off into the mountains to be alone and even in Gethsemane he left His disciples close by but prayed alone to His Father.
In Matthew 6: 6 Jesus said to His disciples,
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut the door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place…”
It says ‘when you have shut the door’, Jesus was telling the disciples it is good to have a quiet place when you pray, to take time alone with Father. Therefore be creative today and don’t just pray in the car on your way to work or while you wait for the bus for school. Find a quiet place where you can sit with your Father in Heaven and spend some time together!
