In Ephesians 6: 14 it says:
“…having girded your waist with the belt of truth…”
Truth is essential when we pray. It says in the Psalms that God knows us through and through, that God even knows how many hairs there are on our heads. It also says in the Psalms that God desires truth to the inner most parts. God is never fooled by us, He made us! He knows everything about us, from what we think to what we feel, therefore we must pray prayers of truth not only that are true to ourselves but as we looked at before, prayers that are true to God’s word and that are true to God’s heart.
The belt of truth it is said girds the soldiers waist, or in others words adds support to him. Therefore in prayer truth is important because it holds us upright, it supports our truthfulness in the rest of our lives and is pleasing to God. So often when we go to war with Satan through prayer, whether for a situation or for other people, he will tell us a great deal of lies; in John 8: 44 Jesus calls Satan the father of lies, therefore we need the support of the truth that we have through Jesus that will protect us from Satan’s lies. In John 8: 32 Jesus said:
“And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”
If you feel bombarded by Satan’s lies pray on the belt of truth and know the freedom that Jesus can bring.
