This part of the prayer is about supplication (asking) and even though it says our daily bread, it doesn’t just mean to ask for our three meals of the day. Jesus is teaching us to ask God for all our needs. James 4:2 says, “You do not have because you do not ask.” God wants us to ask Him through prayer for all things. He cares about all of our needs and wants to help to provide for us.
This year there has been a lot of talk about this being the year of the Lord’s favour (Isaiah 61:2) and the year of Jubilee (Leviticus 27). God wants to pour out His blessings into Your life; God wants to heal you, God wants to set you free, God wants to give you all you need and all you need to do is ask according to His will. Just as we said last week, that in praying prayers that match up with Heaven we see results.
Don’t think you’re being selfish but start to pray prayers that you’re afraid may bankrupt Heaven… God won’t provide for your greeds but he will provide for your needs and he wants to bless you with all His fullness. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your prayers and then ask, ask and keep on asking…
