AMBER – WAIT
When we see an amber light it can mean one of two things. 1. Get ready to stop
2. Get ready to go
However, God is not a Father to play with us and say I’m not sure whether I’m getting ready to say stop or getting ready to say go. It’s just again, about discerning His will. I believe that He knows the beginning from the end, so to me the amber light in prayer means, get ready to go but you need to be persistent and READY. Matthew 7: 7–8 in effect says, ‘Ask and keep on asking’. Persistent prayer is not about persuading God – but as I’ve said so many times before it is about changing us, moulding and shaping our character. Maybe we need to be taught patience so we appreciate the gift or to learn responsibility so we can take care of the gift, or trust of our Father’s heart towards us – God is not a God who torments, punishes or frustrates. That may be how we feel at times but God’s desire is that we become more like Jesus and persistent prayer is one way of that happening.
The main problem we face with the amber light in prayer is so often it is mistaken for the red light and people stop praying about it. We need to ask God for the wisdom and discernment of His Spirit so that we may know whether He is saying Stop or Get Ready!
