To have a relationship with an invisible God we need faith but to spend time waiting on that God and believing Him even in the quiet times, even in the times of waiting for fulfilment, waiting for promises, that is where faith grows.
One of the early teachings that went out was called the Traffic light system, looking at how Father answers prayers, sometimes with red for stop, sometimes with green for go and sometimes with amber for wait. God’s answer to Abraham about a son was amber - wait. You might want to read Genesis 12 – 18. God promises Abraham to be the father of a great nation yet his wife is barren and God does not fulfil his promise until both Abraham and Sarah are beyond child bearing years. God causes Abraham to wait for Isaac. Yet the promise was,
'I will make you a great nation...' Genesis 12:2
'Look now towards Heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.' And He said to him, 'So shall your descendants be.' Genesis 15:5
There was more than just a son to this promise. Abraham never saw the great nation Israel grew to be but he waited, even beyond his own lifetime for the fruit of what God had promised him.
Sometimes Father wants us to learn that we must simply trust Him and believe, whether we see the end result or not. Waiting is about growing in faith and more importantly in relationship; That should be the core of your prayer life – relationship with Father.
