The Power of Community Prayer: 3. The Upper Room – Corporate prayer brings an outpouring of the Spirit of God

After Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven He told His disciple to watch and wait in Jerusalem and so they did. They stayed in an upper room and prayed for about seven weeks.

'These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication.' Acts 1:14

Then we are told in Acts 2 that God poured out His Spirit on them all and they preached and 3000 were saved. From here these disciple spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through the entire world.

This was not just a one off, throughout history many have seen outpourings of Holy Spirit following corporate prayer gathering. The Moravians prayed for a hundred years and saw massive conversions, the Welsh and Hebrides revivals followed corporate prayer, the recent outpouring in Toronto, Canada followed prayer meetings, and the revival in Uganda followed prayer meetings. If you want to see change in your community, your nation, pray together, God has promised to do wondrous things when we do!
