Pennsylvania band Mawcore enjoy Christmas carol radio hit

A BAND from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Mawcore, who describe their music as "alternative hard art rock," have landed a surprise Christmas hit with radical radio stations. Mawcore's single of the 19th century carol "What Child Is This" is released independently. Said the band's lead singer Joshua Redding, "This song hit us in a way that it hadn't before. It has always been performed with a more upbeat feeling, but there is a more thoughtful challenge coming from the song that, to us, didn't allow it to be performed with such careless glee."
