Youth initiative in Italy aims to break culture barriers
A GIGANTIC youth initiative will reach its climax on August 19th in
Rome with over two million young people involved. World Youth Day
2000, otherwise known as GMG2000 Roma, will feature live events from
such acts as Sixpence None The Richer, Burlap To Cashmere, Jaci
Velasquez and Aaron Neville. An album ('One') will feature the
official theme song of World Youth Day 2000, "Emanuel", and
contributions from all the above artists as well as Maire Brennan,
Salvador, Winans Phase 2 and A Ragamuffin Band. Said a spokesperson
about the initiative, "From every nation around the world more than
two million youth will unite in Rome, Italy, in celebration of Christ.
Rediscovering their passion for the Lord as well as sharing their joy
and hope for the future. World Youth Day 2000 breaks all barriers of
culture, ethnicity, race and language, to focus on the ONE true
constant, Jesus Christ."
