The "When You Believe" Christmas hit has a connection with Moses
THE SONG widely tipped to be the UK's number one hit single this
Christmas, Leon Jackson's "When You Believe", has Christian
connections. It was written by Stephen Schwartz (who has previously
written the musical Godspell) for the animated feature film The Prince
Of Egypt. The movie, released in 1998, tells the story of Moses and
the song "When You Believe" was originally recorded by Mariah Carey
and Whitney Houston.
I was disappointed with the Leon Jackson version - it appears to de-christianise the power of prayer - the words have been altered to suggest non dependence on heavenly help - 'But if we dare to dare, Dont wait for answers from the sky.
Each of us can look inside, And hear this song within.' - excerpt from his lyrics. Very disappointing.
