'The World's Favourite Worship Songs' continues to sell
THE TV advertised compilation 'The World's Favourite Worship Songs'
has enjoyed its seventh consecutive week at number one on the UK's
Official Christian & Gospel Albums Chart. The album, which is
available in supermarkets such as Tesco and Sainsbury's, has been
written about in The Independent newspaper. Rhodri Marsden, who
describes himself as "a shoulder-shrugging atheist," wrote in his
article headed Why don't Christian Contemporary Music acts ever make
it into the mainstream?, "Perhaps the collected musical output of
Sonicflood, Matt Redman, Rend Collective and Tim Hughes simply isn't
pitched at me. But a cursory online search reveals that these artists
are huge; they tour extensively, release successful albums and have
thousands of fans and followers on social media. Why have they never
drifted into my line of sight?" In the same article worship man Stuart
Townend spoke about Rend Collective. "They were a band making great
music, but because they were identified as Christians, Radio 1 said,
'Well, we're not going to play these songs because they're not cool'."
