The 29th Chapter win first heat of national Christian music talent search.
LONDON hip-hop crew The 29th Chapter were the winners of the first heat of the national Christian music talent search, The Ultimate Showcase. The event took place at Christ Church Centre, Tunbridge Wells on 7th January. Second in the heat were Hampshire rockers Glo with jazz-tinged singer/songwriter Andy Mayo and rock band Glass Darkly also performing before an approximate audience of 250 people. Said Cross Rhythms general manager Jonathan Bellamy, who along with Clinton Lock and Matt Owen of EMI Christian Music Group was one of the judges, "Judging the performances was very hard. Each act showed great quality in their respective genres."
The 29th Chapter will now go through to a final, to be held in the
Midlands at the end of March and will be judged by a panel of music
ministry experts. The winner of The Ultimate Showcase will perform as
the opening act at Alton Towers The Ultimate Event as well as
receiving recording time in a top studio, album designs and a video of
their single. The next heat for The Ultimate Showcase takes place in
Norwich on 15th January.
