Michael Tate, Needtobreathe, Sean Feucht revelations article
THE RECENT media expose of serious wrongdoings by one-time dc Talk and Newsboys singer Michael Tate (which he has subsequently confessed to) and Bear Rinehart of the band Needtobreathe and worship leader Sean Feucht (who have denied the allegations against them) has brought forth an article in Premier Christianity magazine. The July issue of PC has published 'Does Christian music have an accountability problem?' in which journalist/DJ George Luke noted that Tate had "fully owned" his guilt with "no blame shifting", unlike other high profile Christian leaders who, when accused of serious wrongdoing, have "doubled down or continued as if it's business as usual or vanished with no apologies given."
Also quoted in the article were American CCM broadcaster Brant Hansen
who commented, "Touring life is a brutal life. It's understandable how
many artists develop addictions," and veteran music journalist Tony
Cummings who pointed out "On the one hand, Christians want the gospel
to be heard by the masses and rightly celebrate the occasions when
Christian music is heard in the mainstream but such success often
requires working with companies who are in the fame business to make
money."
