Veteran rock man Dion praised for new album
THE INDEPENDENTLY released album by veteran singer/songwriter Dion, 'New York Is My Home' has been receiving critical plaudits. Read one review, "The Bronx's favourite son follows a string of blues albums with his first rock 'n' roll record since 2003. The album isn't totally sans blues - there are raw, righteous covers of Tampa Red's 'I Ain't For It' and Lightning Hopkins' 'Katie Mae' - but rawboned rockers dominate. There are also a couple of compellingly contemplative tunes, penned by fellow Bronx boy Scott Kempner, including the dreamy-but-streetwise title track where Dion is joined by another august New Yorker, Paul Simon."
