California's Gryp back on the scene
THE HARD rock band from Fresno, California, Gryp (pronounced Grip), have made an unexpected return to the scene and have released the single "Can't Explain" to radio. Read a press release, "The last Gryp album 'Black' was never released for sale due to the record label folding. The label spent a total of $75,000 on the album and a total of $300,000 on the band. Lead singer Curtis Shamlin is releasing the album in the next few months on Flesh And Blood Records. It was produced by W Records/Walden Media and engineered by Stoker (the drummer for Dexy's Midnight Runners' 'Come On Eileen')."
Shamlin has been in the news recently. In October he was fired from
his middle school Principal job for writing a Christian book, The
Rock'n'Roll Principal. He has recently become a TV talk show host on
the weekly The Rock'n'Roll Principal on www.centralvalleytalk.com.
Curtis is also the manager of Gryp and runs Flesh And Blood Records. Gryp will be touring in
a few months and are currently writing songs for a new album.
