New direction for Cross Rhythms in order to keep up with demand
CROSS RHYTHMS has announced changes to its album review policy. In the past, reviews have been written primarily for their bi-monthly Cross Rhythms music magazine, but the demand for more immediate information has led Cross Rhythms to shift emphasis to the internet, making the decision that the first form of publication for their reviews will be on the Cross Rhythms website (www.crossrhythms.co.uk). Explained Cross Rhythms editor Tony Cummings, "In the same way that we changed our procedures concerning Christian music news so that the internet became our primary source of publication with news stories being added on a daily basis, we now feel there is a need for a similar review service to cope with the tidal wave of albums now being released worldwide in all forms of Christian music."
From the 1st of July Cross Rhythms will be publishing album reviews on
its website on a regular weekly basis. In each magazine a selection of
these reviews will be published. Continued Cummings, "Our limited
magazine space has become restrictive as the volume of product to
review has increased. This new service will therefore significantly
increase the number of reviews that we are able to publish. It is
hoped that we will be adding up to 30 reviews per week to our website
which has been growing consistently over the last two years, and we
feel it is now one of the most comprehensive resources of Christian
music information around. There will be a slight reduction in the
number of reviews published in our magazine though it will still
consist of 24 pages of reviews. But, with the expansion of the
Christian music scene worldwide and the increase of retail as a means
of buying albums there is need for a comprehensive Christian music
review service covering the whole sphere - from the very latest Matt
Redman album through to the obscurest independent release from a
Shreveport, Louisiana, singer/songwriter, from the popular genres of
rock, dance and R&B through to the niche markets of sacred
oratorios or Salvation Army bands, Cross Rhythms will provide this
service."
