Union Station man Ron Block to release second solo album
SINGER, songwriter, guitarist and banjo player Ron Block will have his second solo album
'DoorWay' released by Rounder Records in June. Block's songs have been
recorded by such artists as The Cox Family, Michael W Smith and Randy
Travis while he has received 13 Grammy Awards for his work with Alison
Krauss And Union Station. In 2006 Block received a Dove Award for Best
Recorded Song Of The Year for "A Living Prayer" from Alison Krauss And
Union Station's 'Lonely Runs Both Ways' album. Said Block about his
latest album, "For the past several years in my time off form Alison
Krauss And Union Station I've focussed my attention on family, but
lately I've felt an inner prompting to do more solo work. 'DoorWay' is
the beginning of a heightened output of solo recordings. I'm glad to
be back at it' I've got a fresh perspective, deeper lyrics and a
better grasp on the music itself."
