Prog rocker Rick Wakeman talks about his expanded King Arthur project
IN THE June edition of Record Collector magazine veteran rocker Rick Wakeman spoke about the expanded version of his '70s album 'The Myths And Legends Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table'. "We've got nearly the same team who recorded the original, except Matt Pegg is on bass and Hayley Sanderson is on vocals. Replacing Gary Pickford-Hopkins with someone with the same type of voice would have been wrong and disrespectful. It was [engineer] Eric [Jordan's] idea to get a female voice, as Gary had an alto, and I've worked with her on an album. She's great fun, barking mad, and did a fantastic job. We got Ashley Holt and the band, the orchestra and choir and we had 24 days for mixing."
