Mainstream metal artist Peter Steele finds faith after drug abuse, prison and mental health facility

IN THE latest issue of Rock Sound magazine the lead singer of mainstream metal band Type O Negative, Peter Steele, talks about his Christian conversion. After spending time in prison he turned to consistent drug abuse and ended up in a psychiatric facility. Steele's mid-life crisis and drug abuse escalated until he reached out to God. In the interview with Rock Sound, Steele said, "When a person talks to God they are religious, but when God talks to you, you are a psychopath, which is kind of unfair." With a renewed faith in God Steele is now cleaning up his act. Rock Sound reported him saying, "It's not easy being a Christian. Given the choice between an eye for an eye and turning the other cheek, I used to be the eye for an eye guy, but now I realise this is why God gave us more cheeks, because you need to turn them so often." CR
