Rapper turned pastor Mase gets back into the mainstream.
THE FORMER mainstream rap star who turned pastor, Mase, has made a
return to rap music. His new single "Welcome Back" entered the US Hot
R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart at number 46. Mase, real
name Mason Betha, was a protégé of P Diddy and had an international
hit with his debut album 'Harlem World'. After becoming a Christian in
1999 and a pastor for a church in Harlem, New York, two years later,
he wrote a controversial book denouncing all rap music (including
Christian rap) as "leading people into hell."
