13 mainstream artists currently on Cross Rhythms Radio playlist
THE CONTINUING proliferation of Christian artists performing in the mainstream is reflected in the latest Cross Rhythms Radio playlist. The list for the week commencing 22nd March 2010 shows an unprecedented 13 mainstream artists of the 40 acts receiving high or medium rotation airplay. The artists currently being played by the three Cross Rhythms radio stations are Corinne Bailey Rae, Whitney Houston, Paper Tongues, OneRepublic, Switchfoot, U2, Athlete, Fightstar, Jonas Brothers, Mary Mary, Owl City, Paramore and Jordin Sparks.
Said Cross Rhythms programme controller Jonathan Bellamy, "The record
number of mainstream acts getting airplay on Cross Rhythms is a
reflection of the explosion of bands and soloists choosing to work in
the entertainment mainstream rather than the narrow confines of
church-based ministry. A few years ago Christians making headway in
the mainstream music world were very thin on the ground. There was
Cliff Richard, U2 and just about nobody else. Today there are
literally hundreds of Christian acts endeavouring to get their music
heard by the broader general public."
