'50s R&B singer Lula Reed remembered on new Ace compilation.

AN ANTHOLOGY of R&B recordings made in the '50s by Lula Reed has been released in the UK by Ace Records. The album, 'I'll Drown In My Own Tears', features tracks recorded between 1952 and 1955 by the singer for King Records including one gospel track, "A Quiet Time With Jesus". Ace's publicity release reports, "She now leads the Christian life and has no wish to discuss her pre-God finding activities with the world."

the house of blues with her. an tell all the guys not
to bother us. tell pat her daughter hello an i think about
all the good times we had together, LOVE YOU.

I am Lula's Granddaughter and I would like to inform the world of her passing My Grandma passed away June 21.2008 of Cancer she was 82 years old she lived in Detroit,Michigan she has a daughter Patricia and son Reginald total of 5 grandchildren one preceding in death and 4 greatgrandchildren if you have any question feel to ask.

My grandfather had a nightclub in Wichita ,Ks. called 'The Mambo Club',where Sonny 'LOng Gone' Thompson and Ms. Lula Reed played all the time. I now have old bills that advertised them at different venues from the fifties and earlier. Iwould like to know if she has any dates in mind to play in California in 2007. Thanks...Rayo.

Lula Reed songs were the number one songs on the jukeboxes at the beach in Va in the 1950s. I worked at the beach and was given the 78s at the end of the season. Managed to keep them for about 20 years. If anyone has any idea where I can find additional info about what happened to her after she left the R&B scene, there are a lot of us who would love to know. Have just purchased one of her CDs from Amazon.com. Am listening now to "Drown in My Own Tears".
