Peer-to-peer file sharing continues to grow.
DESPITE the efforts of copyright organisations and record companies,
the illegal downloading and sharing of music through peer-to-peer file
sharing services has continued to rise in the US according to the
latest research. A new report has suggested that this was due to US
students returning to university and using internet facilities there
to download music. In order to combat the rise, the Recording Industry
Association Of America (RIAA) has issued 750 lawsuits against music
file sharers, bringing the total of such lawsuits in the US to 6,191
since September 2003.
