Scotland's Clive Parnell returns with gospel-orientated album
EDINBURGH-based singer/songwriter Clive Parnell has released a new album, 'Amazing Love'. The project was produced by Graeme Duffin and Sandy Jones at the Foundry music lab in Scotland. Said Parnell, "I have taken my time over this new album and my last release, 'You Are With Me', was four years ago. I was in a very different place when writing the last CD in 2009. I went through a time of intense suffering through ill health, and people we know and love died, some suddenly and others over a period of time, it seemed like one thing after another."
Continued Clive, "When I came to make this album I was aware of the reality of life and our need for the love of God. We all want to be loved and love and the place we best find this is in God made known in the person of Jesus. In working on the lyrics I began to see that love and joy are big themes of the Gospel and of gospel music. I went back to listening to Al Green, Candi Station and some Aretha Franklin and began to see a picture forming. The lyrics are based in reality overcoming hard times, having joy and knowing the love of God. The music is so uplifting and real."
