50th anniversary celebration for country star
THE 50 year career of country music legend George Jones will be celebrated with a new three CD set and a US TV special spotlighting the artistry that made him an icon. 'George Jones: 50 Years Of Hits' traces the 73 year old singer's career from his mid 1950's hits to the gospel collection he released last year. The television special will feature covers of Jones' songs by modern artists such as Harry Connick Jr, Uncle Kracker and Amy Grant, the latter's version of "Bartender's Blues" being described by Jones as "outstanding".
