Gospel Music Association hits problems, re-organises Doves.
THE FINANCIALLY threatened Nashville-based Gospel Music Association (GMA) has cancelled its annual CCM industry conference. The conference, for long considered a vital part for the Christian music industry bringing in together artists, record label executives, broadcasters and retailers. However, the event has faced shrinking attendance in recent years leading to a debt of $800,000. In September, John Styll, former editor/publisher of CCM magazine and GMA's president and CEO for the last six years, stepped down from his post as part of a cost cutting effort to save GMA.
A rebranded event, Dove Awards Week will take place on April the 19th to 21st and will include events such as Broadcast Music Inc (BMI) and American Society Of Composers, Authors And Publishers (ASCAP) award dinners.
