Producer, singer and record executive dies in March
TOP GOSPEL producer, performer and record executive Frank Williams died in
March. He was national director of Malaco Records' gospel division and
was a key performer in two of the label's popular acts, the Jackson
Southernaires and the Mississippi Mass Choir, which was founded in
1989 and which has been hailed by many as "one of the greatest
recording choirs in gospel music history". Williams died of acute
cardio respiratory arrest. His sudden and premature death causes a
great loss to the world of gospel.
I love Frank Williams’ voice even more today. He sang with much conviction, compassion and sincerity that you were able to feel every word. My favorite is Near The Cross. I really miss that type of gospel. Thank God for blessing us with such a beautiful gift in his music.
