Cross Rhythms Steps Out
CROSS RHYTHMS has stepped out from under the banner of UCB to become an independent youth media ministry. After five years of working in close relationship with United Christian Broadcasters, a new independence has been established and Cross Rhythms is now finishing final details for a new Stoke-on-Trent HQ.
Said Chris Cole, CEO of Cross Rhythms, "After much discussion and prayer, the trustees of both Cross Rhythms and UCB felt that we needed to move into a new relationship. This new independence will enable both ministries to fulfil their original vision and calling, UCB to broadcast Christian radio, publish The Word For Today and support the fight for national broadcasting freedom, and Cross Rhythms to develop its call to the next generation through media, radio and TV, festivals, roadshows and the Cross Rhythms magazine."
He continued, Today the secular media has ceased to be a public information service and actively seeks to form the opinions of our youth. Cross Rhythms wants to counter the youth culture of today, providing a Christian voice in the arena of youth culture where it is scarcely heard. The message is the most important thing but it is also important today that the packaging is attractive to a youth generation. We cannot sit idly by while our youth listen to the likes of Eminem, become isolated from real relationships with the Internet and accept violence, immorality and godlessness as normal on all forms of the media. It is important that we offer another choice, hope and spiritual truth."
Said Ian Mackie, managing director of UCB, "As UCB develops new radio stations and Cross Rhythms develop their festivals and roadshows - Hanchurch is just not big enough. All of us here at UCB are committed to helping Cross Rhythms branch out and build the Kingdom of God."
