New Christian station granted license

A NEW Christian-based radio station, Valley Sound, which will cover a large part of Wales, has been granted a licence by the Radio Authority. The station will broadcast from new studios near Ebbw Vale and over 400,000 people live in the area covered.

Daytime broadcasts will consist of local news and popular music (chart hits and golden oldies) while evening programmes will offer a wide range of music including Welsh choirs and, for the first time in Wales, contemporary Christian music. The Rev John Curtis who founded the Festival Church near Ebbw Vale has a special responsibility for developing the station's CCM programming.
