Life of Johann Sebastian Bach chronicled in new book
A BOOK described as "a concise and accessible introduction" of Johann Sebastian Bach has been published by SPCK. Johann Sebastian Bach: A Very Brief History was written by Andrew Gant, lecturer at St Peter's College in the University of Oxford, and traces the life of the composer. Writes Gant, "Bach stood at a crossroads of thought, the idea of the individual artist of 'genius' was only just beginning to emerge from the older idea of the musician as a skilled working artisan or medieval philosopher."
