The McIntosh County Shouters release album

FOLK MUSIC specialists Smithsonian Folkways Recordings have released 'Spiritual And Shout Songs From The Georgia Coast' by The McIntosh County Shouters. The ensemble emanate from McIntosh County in Georgia. Wrote the New Georgia Encyclopaedia, "The survival of the venerable ring shout tradition can be attributed to the perseverance of several elder tradition-bearers who are deeply committed to continuing the tradition in both community practice and public performance and to encouraging its practice by a new generation."
