The Wiltshire-based decks-man DJ JERRY ROUSELL
DJ Jerry Rousell is 45 years of age, lives in Chippenham in Wiltshire
and has been a disc jockey for over 20 years. Jerry can be best
described as one of the original old school mobile deejays. Jerry runs
two mobile discos, the first one called Sunshine which started about
10 to 15 years ago and mainly consisted of Jerry playing at secular
discos, hotel bars, restaurants and weddings, etc. Jerry became a
Christian during 1985-86 and as a result got very interested in the
Christian dance/disco scene of the time. Jerry plays a wide range of
Christian/gospel music, ranging from the sounds of lona, Amy Grant,
World Wide Message Tribe through to Scott Blackwell. Jerry then began
to programme contemporary Christian music into the beginning of his
set, whenever he was out deejaying at gigs. About two years ago Jerry
set up his second mobile disco called Sonrise. Sonrise was I set up as
a Christian mobile disco, playing only contemporary Christian and
gospel music, free of charge. Since then Jerry has played at the
Salisbury all night Christian youth festival in July '96 and deejayed
briefly on Radio Cracker and on Eagle camp radio. Jerry has also
helped New Wine Ministries by deejaying on their radio | station at
their New Wine Bible week in 1994. Talking to Jerry, I found a man not
deejaying for self-pleasure or gain, but someone who is committed to
the gospel message. I pray that all of us involved in the Christian
dance music scene may be both encouraged and inspired by the devotion
this man has for Jesus and the lost.
