Tony Cummings checks out the "idk" Cross Rhythms radio hitmaker, ALLISON EIDE
Anyone who's heard "idk" by Allison Eide will know it to be one of the catchiest songs to come out in the last few years. But it's much more than that. With wit and wisdom it artfully addresses the issues of fear and doubt that can attack one's mind. With the oft repeated "I dunno" responding to those soul-attacking questions, songwriter Allison, with the help of fellow songsmiths Logan Richard Dinges, Phoebe Scott and Wade Wenrick, has created a gem of a song to ridicule the lies and distortions the Enemy and his demons seek to put in all our hearts by evoking the One who knows it all. Starting with the confession about going to the gym and then therapy, she asks the question whether the attempt to push back the panic helped.
If you haven't heard "idk" yet, here are some of the lyrics:
"Why
you freaking out?
Don't you know He only wins?
Check the
stats again
He won't let you down
There's no room for
debate
Yeah, even demons know their fate
So tell me you what
are you scared of? (I don't know)
What if no one loves you? (I don't know)
Or what if they hate
you? (I don't know)
Or what if you die alone?
Well, I do
know the One who knows it all
What if you are too much? (I don't
know)
Or what if you are not enough? (I don't know)
Or what
if you can't please anyone?
Then I will trust the One who knows
it all
What if your worst fears come true? (I don't know)
Or
what if you're just not talented? (I don't know)
Or what if
you're actually bad at singing and no one relates to your songs (I
don't know, I don't know)"
Minneapolis native Allison has a long musical history. Her father Peder Eide was a nationally known singer, songwriter and worship artist for 25 plus years and by the tender age of six Allison had written her first song, composed at the piano. By age 12 she performed and even toured with her father until God opened up a new path. For a season Allison was a well-known figure in American athletics.
Then in 2024 the singer released the single "Love Who I Am" and saw it
reach over three million listeners around the world. She founded
Moment Ministries to help young women discover their identity in
Christ. In several interviews Allison bravely shared her own story of
battling against anxiety, depression and low self-worth. In March 2025
her debut album 'Love Who I Am' was released. She said in an
interview. "I long for each of my listeners to feel seen and known,
being pulled out of isolation and welcomed into belonging. It's about
time that people knew they are not alone." ![]()
