Philippians 2:3-8, John 5:19
Continued from page 1
When we look at Jesus we see something different. If anyone ever had a right or a power to say, "I can take care of myself", or "I don't need help", then it would have been Jesus; but when you look at Jesus and listen to His words in John 5:19 you see a different way of living:
'I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself'.
If Jesus was dependent on the Father, then surely we should be the same. For example I need Jesus' help to:
1. Help me be the best I can in the job I do
2. Help me be the
best son I can to my Mum and Dad and the best brother to my brother
3. Help me be the best friend I can to my mates who I go to football
with. I need His help every day I work in a school
4. Help me be
the best person in business
5. Help me to be the best listener I
can
6. Help me to be the best I can be in my exams
The opposite of humility is pride. Pride makes you think you can do everything on your own.
Here is an example of pride versus humility:
Pride says: "I can do all things."
Humility says: "I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me."
Who is God calling you to, to share His word? What people does He want you to pray for and what situations does He want you out of and what situations does He want you involved with? Who are you called to serve?
We need to put God first, to submit and depend on Him and grasp onto the fact that it's God's plan not ours!
