2. Living Kingdom lives
As citizens of God's Kingdom (Philippians 3:20-21) we are supposed to live differently - we are ambassadors for our King - representatives of His Kingdom. We live lives of love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, gentleness, kindness, faithfulness, self-control and we don't do this in our own strength or through sheer will power. We do this because the Kingdom of God (as Jesus said in Luke 17:20-21) is within us, through the power of the Spirit.
3. Doings Kingdom works
You are the hands and feet of Jesus in the world today and He wants to see the works of the Kingdom break out in to a broken community through you.
What does that mean? In the words of Jesus in Luke 4:18-19 it means that you recognise that, 'The Spirit of the Lord is on you...and he has anointed you to bring the good news to the poor...to announce freedom from those who are enslaved...to bring sight to those who are blind...to free those who are beaten by the trials of life...to announce to the community that God is breaking in with healing and wholeness.'
What would it look like in your community if you fully committed yourself to the works of the Kingdom, embracing God's justice and generosity in all that we do?
It means less:
- Divorce and broken families
- Poverty and debt
- Unemployment
- Homelessness
- Sickness
- Schools exclusions
- Crime
- Binge drinking
And more:
- Healthy marriages and families
- Financial provision and prosperity
- Fulfilling jobs and successful businesses
- Hospitality
- Healthy people
- Young people succeeding in education
- Safety and security
- Healthy partying
And so on.
Do you dare to believe that this could really happen in our community? That the Kingdom of God could come to such a degree that people would want to move in to this community because of the depth of God's shalom?
- We capture God's vision for the Kingdom
- May we pray Kingdom prayers in the name of the Jesus
- May we live Kingdom lives in the power of the Spirit
- May we do Kingdom works with the love of the Father
May His Kingdom come and His will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
