Matt Summerfield considers the best way to deal with anger
Continued from page 3
In Galatians 5:22 the Bible says, 'the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.'
Every day, we can ask God to fill us with his Spirit:
- God helping us to be loving - which destroys notions of hate
- God helping us to be joyful - which cancels out irritability
- God helping us to be people of peace - leaning always towards forgiveness and reconciliation
- God helping us live lives of goodness - seeking the best for others, rather than pulling them down
- God helping us to be kind - even to those who have treated us badly
- God helping us to be faithful - never turning our back on other people
- God giving us gentleness - which calms anger
- God giving us self-control - helping us to respond not react
How do we manage our anger?
- We own it
- We pause to understand it
- We learn to respond not react
- We ask God in all this for His power to change us
