Liz Dumain considers the parable of the Prodigal Son

Continued from page 1

  • We can be alive if we join the great party that God is throwing to celebrate those who were dead and are now alive
  • Or we can be dead - behaving like servants or sulking in the corner. Eaten up by jealousy about what God seems to be doing for and with others and refusing to join the party.

We have the opportunity to be reconciled to God by the death and resurrection of Jesus. In Christ, with every death, there is the promise of resurrection.

We have the opportunity to be so alive, that we can overcome anything that life throws at us - and I mean anything.

We have the opportunity to be so alive to God that he is a living, breathing every day presence - not just something we believe in, ascribe to, or 'do' on Sundays.

We have the chance to be alive - like the prostitute that poured oil on Jesus' feet and found life - we have the chance to live once more.

The choice is death - or life. CR
