Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every
nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.
Psalm 46:10
You know those 'co-incidences' that happen sometimes? For example you are thinking something and someone else says it to you and then you hear the same thing in a song, read it in a magazine, then even in your Bible!
If you're like me, you slowly come to the realization that the co-incidence is more of a 'God-incidence' and that He is telling you something.
Well...having heard this verse several times from different sources all in a day I thought I'd better take the hint and listen and I'll take the opportunity to share it with you too!!
Father God says 'Be still...'
Do you find like me that life and our relationships, our jobs or studies, the expectations put upon us and all the 'things' we need to do, crowd us so much that it is often difficult to find a quiet and still moment in the day? From the time the alarm goes off to the time we set it again and crash out at the end of the day, voices and noise and demands and needs and wants confront us; we are anything but still.
Today, in the midst of all that is going on, Father God is saying:
'Be still and know that I am God.'
That issue you are trying to do so much about; the to do list that keeps growing; whatever the difficulties and challenges you are facing and the demands on you, God wants you to know that HE IS GOD. Sometimes, sadly, He is left out of the equation until the very last when we finally are brought to our knees and cry out to Him.
If we still ourselves and know that He is God - then He will be
honored. Yes the 'to do' list will still be there, but in some way we
will have acknowledged He is God - the list isn't!
Perhaps
adjusting our perspective and honoring God will even help us with the
list.
Do something different with me right now. Let's take a few minutes and 'Be still...'
Be still and know that I am God.
Let's quiet ourselves.
I'm sure you have much to do, but I challenge you - for ten minutes find a place now and be still before the Lord and know that He is God.
Maybe reach over and just turn off the PC monitor, shut out the other sounds and still yourself, or go quickly and find a quiet corner where you won't be disturbed.
God wants you to know Him - here and now - in stillness.
How can you resist?
