3. Be flexible.
Stretch yourself by doing
something different. Change is here to stay, so you might as well get
used to it. We are called to be agents of change, not fighters of
change. Learn to embrace new situations and challenges rather than
reject them.
4. Have honest evaluation by being really accountable
regularly.
Someone once said, ""Success always occurs in
private and failure in full public view." But in my experience the
most damaging failures are the ones that take place in private unless
I'm deliberately open with someone I trust and confess my mistakes.
5. Polish your strong points & improve your weak
points.
John Maxwell coined the phrase "Fail forward"
meaning that people would rather follow someone even if they fail
occasionally rather than someone who's playing safe. "The person who
gets the farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare.
The sure-thing boat never gets far from shore." - Dale Carnegie
6. Pace yourself.
Life and ministry are
marathons, not a 100m dash. A fruit that ripens too quickly goes bad.
"It takes 20 years to make an overnight success." Eddie Cantor
7. Be fruitful from rest (Hebrews 4)
When in
God's presence and you receive a promise, wait and stay in his
presence for His strategy. Learn the rhythm of work and rest and
regularly stop to evaluate if you're heading in the right direction.
Or as someone else once said, "As you climb the ladder of success,
check occasionally to make sure it is leaning against the right wall."
8. Get the right life partners
I have a friend
who I go to the gym with. Even though it hurts me more, I always run
faster, lift more weight and generally workout much harder when he's
there to cheer me on with "come on, you can do it!". The reverse is
also true. When I'm around people who are demotivated, apathetic or
lazy, it's like my get-up-and-go has got up and gone! Be careful how
much time you spend with people who drain the life out of you.
9. Get Wisdom
Build your life with wisdom by
listening. Be a lifelong listener and learner and you will become a
wise master builder. Proverbs 10:19 "When words are many, sin is not
absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise." God's given you two ears
and one mouth. Use them in proportion!
10. Plan and count the cost
Luke 14:28 "Suppose
one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and
estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it?"
Success comes before work only in the dictionary. For you to be as
fruitful as God wants you to be, it's going to take effort, discipline
and some advanced decision-making. Hebrews 12:11 "No discipline seems
pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a
harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by
it." Count the cost and realise that the harvest is worth the effort
you put in.
My prayer is that you will experience the promise given to Joshua. "Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go."

I just love the way that Carl applies the word of God to everyday life and the clear way he delivers his message. I know that the holy spirit is working through Carl and Cross Rhythms generally. This is a wonderful site which reaches many people and it is great to know that the Lords word is the same the world over.
I am near the end of my race because of illness and found this article so encouraging whatever stage of life we are in or what's ever is happening in our lives. Jacqui
