I wanted to write about obedience, I had my analogies and my stories, jokes and catchphrases. I sat staring at the screen for two hours, writing and deleting the same lines over and over. Now I find myself staring down the barrel of these statistics and I keep asking, in the face of such enormous hardship, what can we, the people of God, do? In the face of so much suffering what can I do?
And I can't shake this phrase smouldering away in my mind, "Radical Obedience"
Radical: tending or disposed to make extreme changes in existing views, habits, conditions, or institutions.
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
God is calling you, he has formed you with a need in mind and he has made you exactly as you need to be in order to succeed.
It is time that we changed our view of obedience. When we obey God we are allowing ourselves to become who we were designed to be. When we answer the call of God on our lives we are truly ourselves. Obedience is not a sign of weakness or a vow of self-denial, it is a starting point for a journey.
Radical Obedience means that when God calls we say, just as Isaiah did, "Here I am Lord, send me".
There is nothing more inspiring than seeing people who understand what they were made for and are living it out, people of passion and vision.
God is calling each and every one of you, to as many varied missions as there are people. God has seen the need and created you, he just needs you to obey.
